                                                                                       Sixty-fifth, "Instruct the precept"

                                                                                    oil on canvas, 120 × 90cm, August 24, 2016

Strict disciplines will guarantee the achievement of Yuan Shen. People of superior
virtue do not need the disciplines as they naturally abide to the precept. The

disciplines are set up for the people of middle and inferior virtues. In Precepts,
Samadhi, and Wisdom, the precepts determine the Samadhi. So the strict precepts
are beneficial to the people with poor root. Kou Qianzhi was born in a noble

family and determined to embody Tao when he was young. His perseverance finally
moved Laojun, who came down personally to teach him the ability to assist the

emperor and to enlighten the masses. Kou emphasized the disciplines and instructed
people not to fall into evil ways. Fa Shen, which is the instrument of Tao, can
raise the living beings. People cultivated by Tao should act on behalf of Tao, and

their most important business is to enlighten the spirits.
